Some folks PM'ed me asking for info on how I painted my badges...

From an earlier post in a different thread:

Here's what I did:
  • Remove badges with heat gun and soft trim pry tools
  • Scuff with 3M sanding sponge
  • Wash in hot soapy water (to remove any release agent)
  • Tape off backs of badges
  • Clean with alcohol
  • Bulldog Adhesion Promoter, 2 coats
  • SEM Satin Black Trim paint, 3 coats
  • Re-apply badges with 3M trim tape

How hard was it to remove the FX4 decal? Did it just peel off or did you have to use a heat gun?

When I removed my 4x4 stickers they just peeled off and didn't even leave any residue behind.

A few minor additons the mod front...
  • Installed the rugged-liner rear wheel well liners, They look better than the open rear inner fender wells that Ford gives us, and I think they will be great for preventing snow/ice/mud/slush build-up under the truck.
  • Purchased some new-take-off Ford Raptor wheels and having Blizzak DM-V1 snow tires in 285/70-17 mounted up on them, obviously dedicated Winter tires and wheels. They are being mounted up tomorrow, so pictures to follow.
  • Bought a HID full projector retrofit kit, but I've been too lazy to install it.
  • Set up my mountain bike mounting solution, using Yakima blockheads and aluminum tie-down track. Allows me to mount up mountain bikes while still keeping the tonneau cover closed and using my hitch for hauling a moto trailer. Works great!

Is that traction control off I see?!? Did they add that ability after the 09s?

Yes, you can turn traction control and ECS off on the 2011's.

oh wow, i am stealing that mountain bike system!

have been trying to figure out a way to bring them along with three dirtbikes in the back of my truck and by god you've got it! keep it coming!

also, what's involved in installing those projector hid lights? I'm guessing it is involved and requires a lot of work to the stock housings?

I sometimes haul the motos in the bed, sometimes on a hitch mount, sometimes in a trailer... For all config's, the bicycle mounts work great!
