how fast were the wheels spinning when you tapped the brake? almost seems like the brakes only stopped the front or back wheels and caused the twist.

10 15mph at most. I tried to make sure I didn't hit them to hard. I know it really hard on the drive line. I guess tapping them is to hard. Lesson learned let them stop on their own. And my next truck will be a SD.

That's all the damage I could see. I drove 50 miles home with no other noises and it seems to drive fine.

Nice, huh. Guess that's why the shafts all say "scrap if dropped". Everything's cheap these days. How you gonna fix it?

Cut the ends off. Turn a small locator hub on each to center the new tube. Then weld a new beefier piece of tubing in between. That's the plan at least. Will see after I get it off.

Make sure you balance it or there will be problems down the road.

It should only spin when in 4x4 correct?. The longer end is bust off on the transfer case with the switch on 2 wheel drive it doesn't spin.

Their are vacuum hubs on the truck correct? So the front axle should spin either.

If this is true. I really should have any problems. I don't use my 4x4 at 50mph. For as often as I use it I can see the vibrations being that detrimental.
