Default bright headlights

Just purchased a 2011 FX4 which I love. On a recent trip I noticed, while driving at night down a highway, that drivers were flashing their headlights at me thinking I had my brights on, which I hadn't. This is one of my pet peeves too, ie being blinded by drivers not dimming their lights. Is my alignment out and is it easy to adjust or is it just the way it is with the height of the truck and the brightness of the headlights ? As far as I can tell the beam is going to the right. Any thoughts welcomed.

Are you leveled or lifted? Your manual will explain how to adjust your headlights if they are aimed high.

Yeah, if you think about it, the *** end high rake of the stock truck requires the headlights to be aimed up to get the correct pattern. Once you level, the lights are now aimed too high, and have to be lowered.

I've often wondered about this while reading the leveling threads here, but have not seen people say they made the adjustment.

I've always thought it was common sense to adjust them. I did it as soon as I got home that night from having my level kit installed.

If your truck has the HID head lights I found that aiming at the recommended level causes me more flashes than either running them lower or higher than recommended.

They seem to have a very flat light pattern and when you meet oncoming cars and the road has any bumps, elevation changes etc. They will think you are flashing them. Any up and down movement of the front of the truck causes the flat beam pattern give the false appearance of you flashing bright at them.

Pay attention to other vehicles you meet on two lane roads and you will notice theirs at times seems to be flashing. I have them and aim them a little low so it doesn't have so much of that affect. Even I get annoyed and crank my mirrors out of adjustment when one is behind me.

I have noticed this as well with my truck and it is annoying. I am completely stock as well so its even more annoying lol. I do like my light pattern as is however and don't care about brighting people that have an issue with it. I have looked at my own truck oncoming and it's perfectly fine.... some people are retarded.... generally the ones with pee holes in the snow for headlights and figure everyone else should be the same.

agree. That are not to bright. Love the HIDs. However when one is behind you that flickering in the mirrors will get annoying. Thanks to power mirrors it's not an issue.
