Looking at the threads for the 2015's, that 'firecadet' posted links to, gives me at least 5 solid reasons now that I'm glad I bought mine and not a 15.
The looks are growing on me, but they definitely have some **** that needs ironed out.
Okay back to your truck. It's obvious, something happened. Hope it gets fixed without resistance.

OK, you made me (go) look...
I'm admittedly ****-retentive about cosmetics - especially on brand new vehicles in this price range. In my many years of buying new vehicles, remorse followed when viewing bodywork inside my garage under unforgiving florescent lighting. When my special ordered (one-of-a-kind as config'd) F150 arrived, dealer presented for my inspection under a large oversize E-Z-Up canopy which allowed me to confirm no blemishes to bodywork as-built nor during transit or subsequent dealer handling. I was pleased (and still am). It never occurred to me to view from above. Doing so, that area where pliable filler was applied is smooth, like adjacent painted/clearcoated sheetmetal. I did test a section with fingernail to see the filler depress and then slowly rebound with memory.
With the OP's situation, I would file a complaint with FoMoCo based on build quality with scheduled inspection by their regional rep and fully document that. I'd start by requesting buy-back at full purchase price due to concerns of long term reliability against water intrusion and rust. If FoMoCo balks (directly or through that rep), I'd insist in writing on a guarantee of compensation should that occur within a specified time period, while invoking laws pertaining to warranty for merchantability - in this case, body structure integrity against potential water intrusion and subsequent consequences.
OK, so maybe that's just me as a retired industrial procurement pro. But hey, I'm delighted with my own truck in all aspects...

Thanks everyone for the info. In starting to read some of the other threads it is clear that this is a very sloppily applied seam seal from the factory with defective bubbled up paint job. Although this is totally unacceptable in terms of quality/workmanship, it seems like it does more harm trying to rework it. Very disappointed.
This is only on my passenger side and driver side is perfect (photo below). This shows that although it may be "common" it is not normal. With the 2014 being the last year of this generation F150, u would figure they would have corrected this quality issue at the factory by now. My build date was dec '14, probably one of the last in production, from KCMO Plant.
Anyone who has had this issue on a '13 or older that let it be, notice the clear coat bubbles open up more/spread/peel worse over time? Thanks
