Brake light sensor sticking help
Hey everyone. I have a 2013 XLT. Over the past year I've had some issues with cruise control turning off on its on until I finally figured out the brake lights were also sticking on at times. I've looked under the dash and the only thing I see it the brake light sensor, it's often enough I have a habit of kicking the brake pedal every time I hit the gas so my brake lights aren't stuck on while driving but it still gets activated over some bumps and such. I found the piece here http://www.carparts.com/details/Ford...FRCNaQodXqQMbA
Just wondering if anyone has had this issue or experience replacing the sensor and if it's as straight forward s it looks to replace? 5,000 miles out of my bumper to bumper warranty so I'd rather repair it myself. Thanks.

That would make sense to replace the switch. Since you hit the brakes a few times and it clears the problem. Sounds like the plunger is sticking. More than likely the switch is firing a relay turning on the brake lights and shutting off the cruise control. Had a similar problem on a 2000 Sable, no relay the current was going straight across the switch frying the contacts. Replaced that switch four times in 100K miles.
