Default brake job problems, help!

on today i installed a new hub bearing assembly on the front drivers side as well as new rotors and pads on both drivers and passengers side. These are stop tech slotted rotors with e-coating on the rotor hat. Dis-assembly was ok, only issue was the hellish amount of break away torque on the caliper bracket bolts. Anyways, when i got everything installed and tightened down the the rotor it would not turn by hand. I pulled the caliper back off and made sure both pistons were retracted. They appeared to be but i grabbed my c-clamp and made sure they were down. Same issue when i got it reassembled. Even with plenty of clearance between the pads and the caliper pistons something is askew enough to make the whole rotor bind. It seems the binding occurs when i do the last half turn or so on the caliper anchor bolts (13mm). If i leave the anchor bolts looser than normal the rotor spins freely.

At this point i'm stumped. it seems the caliper in its final position is out of square by a hair" which is enough to cause the binding. I pulled the slide pins, checked them for anomalies and regreased them. They look good to me. The rotor installed on the hub with no caliper runs true, i dont see any wobbling or runout.

passengers side went ok, it has the typical amount of drag i would expect with brand new pads and rotors. I can spin the rotor by hand no issues

any ideas?

Pad with the ears goes on backside, make sure pads are correctly installed.

thanks, that solved the problem. The pads were packaged as pairs in each rotor kit so i incorrectly assumed 1 pair for left side and another pair for left side. Actually i needed to remove 1 pad from each kit and use it on the opposite side so the pads can go with their mate. I didnt notice the difference and there was no marking on the pads. *smh*

It depends on the pads a bit. You can find pics of obviously different pads, with a big tab/ear visible. I believe that video shows this. Others do not have them. I had to study my Wagner OEX pads for a few minutes to decipher which was which, and compare closely to the Ford pads I was removing. At first look I saw no difference at all, held them up against each other trying to find the magic ears that didn't exist.
