bastards, i called 9 dealerships and asked what they'd charge. My dealer said $90, "But i don't think you really need to do it." They ranged from $45- $100 for a 5 minute process, very annoying.

I talked them down to $30 for mine. I printed out the instructions and they realized it was a 5 min process.

my buddy owns his own shop and would have had to buy the pass from ford for $55 to activate it for me, so he called his buddies shop and he said since i was his friend he'd do it for free. I gave the tech $20 for doing it for me. Happy i have a working trailer brake controller for a grand total of $148.xx

Not really surprising. I'm sure there are quite a few guys here that I would want working on my F150 compared to the majority of techs especially with the mood surrounding warranty work right now. This is why I try to do everything myself even if it does end up costing me a few bucks out of my pocket. I've played the warranty game and sometimes it's just better to eat the cost. I know I shouldn't have to, probably enabling their bad behavior, but it's not worth the increase in my blood pressure.
