Default Brake controler help needed

I have a 2011 F-150 supercrew XL with the trailer tow package. It has the wireing harness and the lightweight receiver hitch. I ordered an adapter to plug in to my dash harness. The instructions stated I should remove the side panel from the radio console and the wireing plug would be behind the panel. After removeing the panel I don't see any plug for the adapter to plug into. Any ideas? Thanks Eason

The brake controller plug is usually taped up, right by the steering wheel column. Right side.

Mine was taped under the steering column. I removed my cubby hole thing to put in the controller. I must have been short changed when they made my truck because it was next to IMPOSSIBLE to pull that wire enough to connect it to my controller. Finally got it stretched enough to connect. Took me a minute to realize there is a plastic cap over that wire connection. Useless and does nothing. This is a great video to watch.

If you use an aftermarket controller do you still need to have it "flashed" at the dealer? Eason

New Member Question. I am ordering the OEM brake system. It will arrive on Friday late, but I wanted to use it Saturday morning. Can I have the computer "flashed" BEFORE I install my actual brake module?

Thanks
