Default Bought new bilstein 5100s; do they look used? (Pics)

So I got these new biltstein 5100s new and they arrived today. So I take them out and I see this black stuff dried on the white grommet and I was wondering if these are like aged/used or something.

Would you raise an issue or say screw it and just have them thrown on?

It doesn't look like they were installed, I'm not sure what that black stuff would be though. I would just throw them on, the rest of the shock body looks new.

They look new to me. I don't see anything out of the norm.

There was a black scuff mark down the tube but nothing dented so I'm not too worried. Yea, I'll prob have them throw it on this weekend hopefully.

Zoom in on the images to inspect closer. Nothing that bothers you or looks off to you any? Keep in mind these are supposed to be brand new in the box.

If not, no worries, could be me..

I guess I'm not going to care, they seem solid, nothing really wrong with dents, major scratches etc.

Who is "them"? The rear shocks can be changed by a 4 year old with a hangover.
