Default Bought a 2013 EB today, CEL came on lol. Anyone have an extra Catalytic converter?

Says catalytic converter bank 1 is bad, P0420. Is this a common thing due to the intercooler condensation thing?

I just read about the condensation in the intercooler and about needing to gap the plugs at .030. On a side note, the dealership said they just had the spark plugs replaced and oil changed... I guess I'll pull the plugs next week on my day off and gap them at .030.

What do I need to do about this catalytic converter?
Is it actually bad, or possibly just a false code from something else?

If it's bad, does anyone have a low mile take off catalytic converter they would sell me (possibly someone who bought a new EB and replaced cats with off-road pipe or something)?

I am working on joining the airforce and actually bought this truck to cut my debt, didn't want to dump money in it...

I literally have had this truck since 4pm today, so around 3 hours... all I've done is fill up the gank tank with 93 premium gas, put on fresh wiper blades, and put a bottle of lucas injector cleaner in the gas tank. Very lame of me that I didn't research about the condensation issues etc before I bought it lol. Stupid me.

If you just bought the truck today, the dealer should fix it whether it is used or not. You didn't get any kind of warranty? If it's a 2013 it may still be under 3yr 36000. I believe there are specific mileage limits for catalytic converters but you will need to look into it. If you bought it today, tell the dealer to fix it.

Did you read the posts of people warning you not to buy this truck... Specifically because of this???
You got somebody else's problem truck. If they let the misfire go for that many miles, then your cats and o2 sensors are shot. If you can return the truck, DO IT.

How would it be under the 3/36 when it has over 100k miles? Just about any vehicle with this much mileage is sold as-is unless otherwise stated.

Up to the dealer if they want to take care of it.

To the OP - How is buying an unknown condition high mileage F150 that you fill with premium gas a debt saving plan? The insurance and registration is probably still high on it on top of that.

93 octane wasted money.

Injector cleaner, then the code? Wasted money.

Dealer had CEL, did not fix problem. Return it.

Ford dealer? or just some car lot?
I bought a used 2014 last month, my ford dealer had a 30 day 50% part, 50% labor warranty, did you get anything like that?
But really the same day? I'd go right back to them and least give them the opportunity to make it right. Tell them to fix it or return it, seems fair.

I'd have been back on the lot within minutes of the light coming on. I know it has no warranty, but I'd be making noise. If they won't cancel the deal I'd be contacting a lawyer. They knowingly sold a bad truck.

What state did you buy it in. All most all of them have some form of lemon law for dealers. Normally it's 3000 miles or 30 days if a pre known condition causes the issue they are expected to address it.

With that being said you are stupid for buying a truck that many members warned you about and told you was over priced. You better fight like hell to get the dealer to cover it or else it's going to hurt.

I'd take it back to the place you bought it and see what they have to say.
