Default Body control module replacement

Hey just trying to see if I am getting screwed.

2011 ford f150.

Been causing lots of issues here and there. Specifically a parasitic drain that was escalating in severity. I have also had issues where I lose power steering and the alert pops up saying power steering assist fault, then I turn off my truck and turn it back on and I have power steering again. Similar thing happened once where I got an alert that I was out of oil and my truck wouldn't drive. Same thing turn it off then turn it on and all is well.

Finally brought it to a mechanic that was recommended to me by a family member. The mechanic has his own shop. Took a month between holiday breaks to diagnose and he decided it was the body control module.

Then took nearly 3 weeks to get the new module in and the excuse, relayed to me, from the parts rep guy was he had no idea why it hadn't been delivered because it had been just sitting there. Now he is saying his tool won't work to program the module and he is waiting on a new tool or for a mobile mechanic to come program it. New tool was supposed to arrive last week. I tried contacting him today and have heard nothing.

All of this is costing me $1600. I have been without a vehicle for over 2 months now. I was trying to be understanding but I am now losing my mind and am getting pissed.

I am definitely being taken advantage of but am I also being screwed? Or is he just not caring to work on my truck in a timely manner?

I'm not sure whats up with him but the job could be completed using Forscan. Maybe you should just pick it up and start again. It don't sound like your going to have a happy ending with that gentlemen.

I'm in the process of getting my BCM cloned to a new/used donor BCM, should be plug and play once it returns. I'm hoping it will fix my intermittent electrical issue. If it works I can walk you through what I did. Cost me about 3-400 bucks so far.

It cost my dad around $1100 when the BCM went in his 2013. The first BCM the shop got didn't work. Apparently, there were some changes sometime during 2013 and his 2013 XLT needed the newer, updated BCM?

As far as i know if the BCM is physically the same the only difference is the software. When I bought my 2014 FX4 on the test ride I noticed that all of the turn signals where hyper flashing I bought the truck thinking someone put LED bulbs somewhere. I check all the stop/ turn bulbs and all where the correct bulb. I cleaned and reinstalled all the bulbs still hyper flashing. I next bought all new stop/turn bulbs installed them and still hyper flashing. I worked for Ford but the dealership was sold and the new owner got strict about techs taking a IDS home. That's when I found Forscan installed it with a free 2 month subscription downloaded and applied the as built data to the BCM Forscan stopped with a warning that I was writing more lines than was previously there I said yes continue when completed turn signals worked as designed. Somehow the BCMs data was corrupt and loading the as built data fixed it. It's a very good thing that Forscan is able to access that information. Of course you would always save your original data before doing such a thing.

Yes, it was the software that was different.
