Default Bluetooth Echo New Head Unit

Hello all, was hoping to see if anyone has ran into a similar issue with bluetooth and new head units. I have a 2010 XLT that I just replaced the stock radio with a Boss BV800ACP, PAC wiring module, and Crutchfield wiring. The install went smooth but I'm running in to an issue where when I'm connected to Carplay, if I use the phone to call someone they say they hear everything they say like an echo. When I disconnect the cable and just use bluetooth the problem goes away. I have tried several different Iphones and the problem is not phone dependent.

I was very concerned getting a Boss radio but almost everything name brand was out of stock on Crutchfield. Could this be something with Sync, Iphone software, or Boss software?

Have you asked Crutchfield or Boss?

I would check with crutchfield first but it seems when they talk and it comes over the speaker, a mic is picking it up and relaying it back again.

I called Crutchfield tech support and tried what he recommended but he thinks it’s an Apple issue or Boss. It still didn’t work but I have 60 days to return it. I’m going to try Boss tech support and see if it gets me anywhere.

Im gonna go with a boss issue. There is a reason everything is out of stock currently (chip shortages) and why boss is still in stock. I went through a couple Boss marine head units on my Polaris Rzr. They would all have issues, it just was a matter of is this going to last me 6 months or 1 year, but at the price I paid for them (less than $40 each time), I couldn't get anything else. I have now installed amps and went with a JL audio MBT-RX for $30 and am so thankful to be done with boss.

I went ahead and setup a return for the Boss unit and found a new Sony XAV-AX150 in stock for only thirty dollars more. Let's hope it fixes the issue but I do feel better buying a name brand that updates their firmware. When I called about the Boss, they do not issue updates.
