Yep, lose the grille for black or something. Would look better than chrome on chrome.

Would it look better if it had a painted surround? I like those on the KR & H-D with the painted frame & chrome bars. would like to have that on mine.

Sure, it would look "better". I have no idea why one would replace the FX4 grille in the first place..If you want chrome, a low-spec Lariat would be the same price..Why buy an FX4 just to spend more money to chrome it up?

I personally don't have the FX4 (I have the STX & was wondering if it was worth doing to my truck...) I was helping Dad price out a truck on the website over the holiday. If you get the lariat you can add the off road pkg that essentially gets you the FX4 but with chrome.

what killed me with the whole thing is by the time you add the 6.2L & other goodies to the FX4 it's cheaper to get a Raptor.

That doesn't make any sense lol..unless its a loaded fx4 compared to a bare bones raptor in which case it makes more sense.

Call me crazy, but I'd honestly rather have the loaded FX4..the raptor is too wide for alot of garages and can only tow 8k lbs. I'd actually have a loaded platinum over a loaded raptor..just IMO.

like I said, if you're comparing one with the same engine, the 6.2L in the FX4 is $3500 or so alone. Add the full lux pkg at over $5k & you're north of $50k in a hurry. Agreed I'd be looking at something else like a Limited too. Dad was kinda mad at me when I told him the Lariat pkg wasn't really all that anymore, it's more like a mid level trim pkg now. think he wanted to throw me out of the house (he's wanted a Lariat for a long time, when that was the top of the line for a long time. was mad the '96 couldn't be ordered with it because of the motor & trans, could only get an XLT.)

the towing is down in the Raptor & is a wider truck but they look so damn cool! I have a 2 car garage & it's just me with the kids so we're a single vehicle family.

Blue Flame Metallic is a great looking, dynamic color! I wish Ford would offer Race Red Metallic to go with it! Maybe in 2014 they will roll out a Lime Green Metallic for those of us that like bold-dynamic colors.

Yeah the lariat isn't like what it used to be. They don't sell nearly as much as they used to. People either go for an Fx4 or platinum...there's a few of them but they are just a mid-range trim now.

At the dealer, it was love at first sight for me when I saw this color with two tone, 20's, and tow mirrors
