I look at the catch can (mine was installed by the previous owner luckily) as something like reducing how much someone smokes. Is it going to stop everything bad from happening, no. Is it better than nothing, probably. Will it hurt anything, shouldn't if you do the maintenance required with it (empty it!) and install correctly. The gunk that comes out of mine every couple weeks can't be good if it was going into the engine but I also realize there is probably plenty that still went through, at least I am catching some of it though.

edit* call them they can tell you what would best suit your needs as far as how you run the tune and what you need.

Jdunk,

Thanks for the information. As to tuning, I see the price is the same at both Stage3 and Unleashed. Since I have had beyond exceptional customer service with Torrie at Unleashed I will stay there. Might pay a little more for 3 tunes but the service cant be matched!

And will still go with a catch can, I agree it can't hurt if maintained and installed correctly.

I don't think there's a huge difference between any of the available tuners. I went with 5* and am happy. On my last truck I added a cat-back, headers, CAI, and a tune but JUST having a tune on this truck adds way more power than everything combined on my last truck. I'll also mention that I don't think I've ever noticed a difference on the butt dyno that a CAI ever made a difference in power on any of my vehicles, it just makes a lot of noise so I'm saving my money on the F150. Same with an exhaust but that's mostly because I think they all sound like crap.

I actually found the 5* 93 octane performance tune to a be a tad radical for my tastes. I always thought I wanted the most power available, but after several times of hammering the throttle when I was already going 20-30 mph and just spinning the tires, I decided the 93 octane tow tune is much better for everyday driving. You WILL be impressed with what a tune does for these ecoboosts!
