Default Blend door questions

I have a 14 crew. I do not have dual climate zone but the air coming from my drivers side is noticeably cooler than the passenger side on heat. Far as I can tell the bottom blend door that’s on the floor in the center is the blend door that would control drivers side if I had dual climate. But I don’t, so changing that actuator shouldn’t do anything correct? If I adjust to cooling, both sides are the same temp. So I don’t get it. I don’t wanna go through the hassle of changing that one cause every video tells me it’s a major pain. Is there anything else this could be? Would the truck have that bottom actuator in a truck that came as single climate? The other blend door actuators seem to be functioning properly.

I have the same climate control in my 2014. I believe it's the actuator behind the radio. It's not awful to get to

If you dont have dual climate control there IS NO actuator at the bottom. There can be some variance between sides on the outlet temperature but should not be more than 10 or 15 degrees difference. Once the engine is up to operating temperature your outlet temps should be at least 145 degrees and up to 160+. If it is extremely cold the variance can be larger. Since you havent posted the full operating temperature temps from both sides we can only guess if you have an issue or not. What is the temperature gauge showing when you are testing the outlet temps? When was the last time you had a thermostat replaced? When was the last time you had a full coolant flush? There are many factors that one has to consider on heat or cooling performance.

there’s definitely one on the bottom. Which, from what I see online, seems to be the one that would be for dual climate. The dash is definitely not dual climate. I had a ford edge with dual climate so I’m familiar. First thing I did when I first noticed was put a ford thermostat and flushed the heater core. The engine was replaced 10 000 kms ago so the coolant is basically new. It was after I did the thermostat and flush (thought maybe it was air locked) that I realized it was just the drivers side blowing colder. It never even occurred to me before that to even check both sides cause it’s not dual climate. The temp difference is quite noticeable. When I checked it about a month ago it was about 12C. Which is very noticeable.

I’m almost wondering if the truck had dual climate and was swapped for some reason before I bought the truck. But I did for sure find 4 blend door actuators and the 3 seem to be functioning properly because it switches between floor, defrost, dash etc. and it changes from oitside air to recirc. It changes from hot to cold air, drivers side just stays cooler on heat but is the same temp on full cold air on both passenger and driver side, that bottom one is so hard to get to tho.

If it has a bottom actuator someone has installed the wrong plenum in your truck or the climate controls have been swapped out for some reason, possibly because at one time someone put an aftermarket radio with climate controls and then removed it and just threw in some junkyard parts to get it sold. Who knows

Maybe have the local dealer pull up the original equipment list for your truck by vin
