Default Best time to put in the 2012 order

To the people that have been stating that they are going to order a 2012, when are you going to place the order? I was thinking that late December might be the best bet.

Assumptions:
If I order now, I surmise that I would get it around Nov and since they'll still have lots of 2011s out there, I would guess Ford wouldn't have much if anything in the way of incentives.

Truecar had a nice dip in price last year in March and if I order in late Dec, assuming 8-12 weeks to get it, would likely have it arrive around March
--------

With the way the incentives/rebates from Ford work (ie. you get whatever is in place when the vehicle is delivered 8-12 weeks after you put in your order), it is going to be a gamble.

I wish I had been paying attention last year when the 2011s came out to see if there were rebates right away. For me, it would be worth say $1000 to have it in Nov instead of March, but it wouldn't be worth an extra $4000.

ps. perhaps a Moderator can fix my poll to make it seem like I know that Jan 2012 comes after Dec 2011. :-(

I am waiting until about late December to order, depending on how I do on selling my '09? I don't want to trade it at the dealer, as I have already heard the dealer talk about how hard it is to move the used trucks with the larger V8's because of high gas prices. He is talking roughly 3K below wholesale BB.

Next, I want to ensure that all those leftover '11 stale parts, including the older A/T's and EB versions, and any other component which is not specifically new for '12, is cleared out and only new stuff is going into the new truck. Also, I want the assembly crew to get back into the full swing of things, after a month or more of vacation while they shift over from the '11 line to the '12 line. I figure about 8 weeks for build and rail/truck, from Dearborn to near Sacramento, CA.

Most likely it doesn't really matter; but that's my plan.

This will be my first factory order; previously I have always bought off the lot.

I think the bestest time ever to order a 2012 would be in July of 2012... that way, you'll have outlasted all the early production errors and problems that will have been posted on the forum and you'll be really secure in your order........ unless it's better to wait for the awesome 2013 F150!!! oooo... nevermind.. wait for the 2013

Hmmm, you've got me thinking now?

This is a good point, the guys down at the P.O. were talking the other day, and they said that the 13's would have a completely revised

If you think about it, the best time to order is when incentives are high. What bugs would they really have to work out since what's really new to the 2012 are mostly options ie 36 gal tank ac seats.

I don't know about that. If you buy at the end of the year because there is an additional ~$2000 in rebates, you've basically bought a pristine, low mileage 1 yr old truck. If you turned around and sold a 2011 vs a 2012 in 2014, you'd get less for the 2011 even if they were both sold new on the same day. With bigger year end incentives, Ford is just taking some of the depreciation cost for you.

I'll definitely buy before I hear what is coming for 2013 or else I'll get stuck in the waiting cycle again. It already sucks that I'm so picky that I have to factory order a truck instead of getting one off the lot.
