Well, my point is that the backup cameras on these trucks are more or less the cheapest Ford could've put on the trucks. I shouldn't have to mount ~3000 lumen cube lights to the rear of my truck just to see behind me in the factory backup camera. I'll edit this post with a picture of my Durangos' camera and lights here in a bit just for comparison.

Stock lights are brighter than Fords stock lights but nowhere near as bright as the LEDs I just put in.

Backup camera with stock reverse lights and regular tail lights, not brake lights.

I totally understand what you're saying, and I should have clarified my use of the lights. Once the 35% tint was applied to the front windows it made seeing items in the mirrors at night nearly impossible. So it was a safety thing for me since my driveway is cut over a ditch and missing it would be a very expensive mishap.

My point with the reverse bulbs is that they create a bright spot near the vehicle which in turn is what the camera will then show since the contrast is pretty horrible. Oh, and the SRM cubes are only around 1400 lumen

Either way, yes Ford could have improved, but just like other First World Problems we have, it's better than having nothing...I couldn't imagine backing this beast with confidence without the camera now. Not sure how I managed in the '06 before this truck.

Wish I didn't wait so long to install these. But best bang for the buck.

In my 2013, I bought some led projector bulbs (similar to the ones in the link) and replaced my reverse lights with them. They were quite simply amazing. I could light up the house across the street with them.

Ill second those. I have the same ones, and they are amazing. I put them in both my dad and brothers trucks as well.
