First thing I had Ford do to my new (at the time) 2010 F-150 was shut those stupid "Daytime Running Lights" OFF! I'm a hunter.. Nothing like tell all the deer in the area, here I am when getting to the blind before day break. A simple software ON/OFF at your Ford dealer

I also wanted to be able to turn the Fog lights on ANYTIME. It took a switch from Radio Shack, fuse holder, 10 amp fuse and 14 gauge wire.

I posted the complete instructions here over a year ago.. Do a search for it if interested.

Hey guys, i was wrong when i said i got the LED kit from Amazon for $50 bucks. I actually got the most of the kit from Amazon, then got the fogs from eBay for $14.

Here are the links:
Light kit
Amazon.com: 09-14 Ford F-150 LED Package Interior + Tag + Reverse Lights (13 pieces): Automotive Amazon.com: 09-14 Ford F-150 LED Package Interior + Tag + Reverse Lights (13 pieces): Automotive

Fog Lights

I have a few very minor complaints. The interior lights that come in this kit from Amazon are really really nice. However, the factory bulbs auto dim. When the Led's try to auto dim, they blink a few times instead of actually dimming. Not a big deal at all, especially for the price of the kit.

The fog lights are not quite as bright as i expected them to be. Still, very nice, very white and very sharp. They are even nice and bright. I just expected them to be a bit brighter then factory bulbs but as far as brightness they are about the same. Still really nice for the price. All of the OPT7 kits are top notch.

So last week I got a flat and went to take down my spare and discovered that 2 Chicago winters had destroyed the lock I had added when I bought the truck. Salt had packed into and corroded the supposed "weatherproof" lock so bad I couldn't even get the key in. Luckily I was at home so with a pneumatic cut off wheel I got the lock off. Obviously I needed to put a new lock on after putting the spare back under the truck. So the new lock was 10 and the cable, which was still good (payed about 15 for it 2 years ago). Now here's the free mod part. After putting the lock on I used my grease gun and pumped grease directly into the lock cylinder. I then used electric tape and wrapped the entire lock in order to keep moisture out and the grease in. I then rotated the cable so that the lock is above the spare and road debris wont hit the lock causing the tape to damage and come off. Thats it.......on a side note I know some people say adding a cable lock is pointless because if a thief is going to cut the carrier cable they will just cut the lock cable too. My opinion is that the lock cable is harder to cut than the carrier cable so the thief will take longer leaving more time to be caught. But most importantly if a scum bag is that big of an a hole he's stealing tires from people's trucks he's probably a lazy piece of s#&t, hence stealing rather than working. So if I park next to you and you don't have a lock he will steal your tire before he steals mine.
Had a slow side wall leak so I took my truck to discount tire. It took me some time to decide on tires so they went to put my spare on. Chicago winters got the best of the cable lock under my truck holding the spare. I like your idea! I still haven't replaced the lock, speaking of which, I should probabaly check to make sure I still have a spare....

Are the DRL on the F150 the amber parking lights or the actual headlights?

Depends on the year. 13 - 14 you can select 30%headlight or parking lamps as the DRL. Earlier models only had on off.

On that topic, how much did they charge you to turn off the DRLs?

Here is my under $50 addition! I sold my XLT and bought an STX and didn't care for the plastic steering wheel so I added a leather steering wheel cover. I was about to pull the trigger on the wheelskins cover until I found a cheap alternative that I thought I would try first from Amazon. The cover at first didn't seem to be able to fit but you have to really work to get it on and once on fits perfect. Also, I strung my string through each perforated hole behind the stitching to give it a better tightness. All in all I have to say I am 100% satisfied with the end result. Didn't think I would be able to add an idea to the plethora of mods here.

You did a great job buttoning that one up.Looks great.
Even with the leather steering wheel, I still put a good leather cover on mine. A nice one...like yours.
I can't stand a skinny steering wheel anymore. If you've ever had a chance to drive a vette, even for a few miles. the wheel is so much more comfortable, it spoils you.. So there's no going back to skinny wheel after that.
