I stole this idea... but I used the pocket on the other side. This required taking the back off the display, and trimming the left and right edges of the display face to fit... as well as some foam tape to keep all the spacing right
Also used a fish tape to pull the camera cable through the frame - protects it the length of the truck except where it comes out of the frame to go intot he cab of the truck (used the grommet in the front corner of the passenger side of the cab)
The benefits to using the pocket on the passenger side are that the steering column/shift lever won't get in the way. That pocket is also too narrow to store much of anything.
The whole setup cost me about $33 shipped form amazon
I still need to connect the power for the system to the reverse wire in the stereo harness (part of the active metra adapter for my stereo - I have an XLT and had to have my aftermarket stereo) - but the entire install onl took about 2 hours, counting dremel time and fishing the cable through the frame.

So you used the right side as you look at the dash? It looked to tight because it is structured differently than the left side. I have a brake controller there, so want to do what you have done, this is good news.
