Default Best 3rd brake light option

Hey guys, what is the best option for the 3rd brake light? I just ordered my FX4/raptor style tail lights and figure that the chrome of the third brake light will look kind of out of place. Is there a decent aftermarket one available?

I was thinking of tinting the inside where it is chrome with some night shades. Has any one done this? I'd rather not tint the outside of it.

I purchased the recon one from stage3, much better looking than factory and really easy to wire up.

Is it worth the money? I see people time and again here talking about Recon lights not being very good.

Raptor 3rd brake light is a great one in my opinion Lots of writeups on how to do it, no visible red reflector like the stock one, LED running lights as well as brake lights, and can easily be tinted or whatever you want to be more of a match to the stock FX/Raptor lights.

It's of course also a Ford product so no worries about quality

I was thinking that. I've seen the thread where people say they've picked them up for less than 50 bucks, but I haven't found any such deals

I got mine on Ebay and paid just under $100. The days of $50 were when it wasn't a well known thing and ability for all 09+ trucks to be able to use it. Once dealers and others figured it out, the price went up.

Ah of course. Maybe I will be lucky and scoop one up for cheap. Problem I have with buying one on ebay from a dealer is they always charge ridiculous shipping plus I end up having to pay duty.

I did a smoked recon ones it looks great and it was wired up easily but I soldered mine in place.

The cargo lights are worse than stock but the red led stop is brighter.

Id get the Raptor version, and Replace the Halogen bulbs with Leds from SuperBrightLeds, I did on my stock 3rd brake light and love the output of the upgraded led bulbs!

I think the Raptor wins in this case. I swapped all my current bulbs to LED and haven't looked back. Makes the cargo light actually useful.
