I had a similar squeak, i took it to the dealer to waste some time having them look at it. They put some listening device on the tailgate and said it was coming from there, so they lubed up the tailgate step. Then i still heard it on the way home, so when i got home i did as rdkev did and since i had linex sprayed, I checked the 6 bed bolts. I found those to be very loose near the end of the bed and tightened them down. Haven't heard any squeaking since (fingers crossed).

I wonder if this is my issue as I didn't notice a squeak till I had my truck undercoated.

It's the passenger side tailgate latch and possibly hinge.
Got less than 4000 miles, have only had the tailgate open a couple dozen times, and those crappy nylon bushings are tore up!!

Might have to get some measurements and see if I can find a better material.

I've noticed this as well over the past couple month. Like the OP, don't really want the dealership monkeying around with my truck anymore than I have to, so I'll definately be checking the tailgate this week. Thanks everyone!

Had the same issue. I put grease on the tailgate hinges, latches and the rubber stops which contact the tailgate and edge of the bed. The problem went away.

Right, me too. Heard the squeak, particularly when the sliding rear window was open.

Read up on it in the forum, applied white lithium spray to both tailgate hinges, noise gone, problem solved.

Less than 4k miles. Tailgate has only been opened a few dozen times.

Did an old school redneck fix on it. Wrapped it with Scotch 33 electrical tape. Yeehaw.
