Default Bed squeak? Do/Did you have it?

Ok, got a '13 FX4, and I've been noticing a high pitched squeak coming from the back seat area. Everything in the cab is solid, so I didn't know what it could be.

It was cold this morning (75^F) so I opened the rear slider and sun roof. The sound was LOUD! It is definitely coming from the bed.

So....has anyone else had this?
Where did you determine the source to be located?
How did you fix it?

I'm not interested in taking it to the dealer at this time, so hopefully there's an obvious area to look, like the tailgate cables or tail light assembly.

On a side note, I don't know how the bed doesn't shake the paint off. Looking at my tailgate in the mirrors as I go down the road; it looks like it is flimsy as a half empty Mylar balloon in a kid's hands.

Check your tailgate. The hinges are the culprit on mine. Any amount of dust and it squeaks like crazy as I am driving.

I had the same sound. It was the rubber window weather stripping. I cleaned around it and used some 303protectant and all is good now. Hope this helps.

Mine was the driver side tailgate hinge. Had some overspray from the line x on it, as well as general wear and tear. Scraped the line X out and sprayed in some lithium grease. Squeak free for a couple months now.

My '12 squeaks on occasion. I think it's the tonneau cover rubbing against the cab as I never noticed a squeak before putting the cover on.

Had the same issue, turned out I was not closing it hard enough. It went away.

Just another case of treating our trucks like a baby. Since I am not a big fan of slamming things shut, I lubed the latches so I wouldn't have to close soooo hard, I sort of feel like im hurting her.

My 13 had a nasty tailgate squeak. Lubed the hinges and posts and have no noise.
