Ok. Maybe this is not in the right place but I am wanted to get a truck cap/topper/shell/etc.(Everybody has their own name!!) I have a 2013 5.5' bed. My question is is the bed top, bed rails, the same from 2004 to current or just 2009 to current. Looking for a used cab because 2K for a new one is crazy!! I used to install them years ago and they were 1K for a top of the line model. Times sure have changed!!

 

I'm pretty sure that the box is wider starting in 2009.

 

bed is the same width and height. my bed liner out of my 2011 is on my old boss's 08 f-150. we have the 6.5 foot bed. the tailgates are a little different. in 09 they got that little flare on the top.

 

When I got my 2009 a friend gave me a 2-month old 2004-2008 tonneau cover. It fit width wise but was an inch or so short and the back rail was the wrong shape. The tailgate is quite a bit different on the 2009+ due to the flair at the top back edge.

 

there different, not by much ... im sure you could "make" it fit, but it wont be a perfect fit.
