Bed Shake Fixed
Hey All,
Thought I would share my experiance about MY shudder if you will. I dont know what else to call it, but here goes.
So, I talked with the service writer at my dealer explaining to him that at 50-55 mph my bed was shaking independent of the truck. Any faster and I felt like the bed was coming off. (ok, maybe a slight exageratin). Was told that the clutch plates in the rear might be going out and to bring it in and let them check it out. I was anxious to do so, especially since I have a great relationship with my service dept and the dealer in general. So, I got there, they took the truck out for a test run and came back and stated that they didnt see it being the clutch plates but were going to do a high speed balance on the rear wheels, that possibly I threw a weight. After being done, still the same issue. Upon further investigation they tore into the brakes and found that the parking brake actuators (terminoligy?) were so close to the rotor/drum that as the rear heated up, the parking brake was expanding causing the limited slip to start working.
Now, I'm not sure I am explaing this in the proper terms, but I sure understood what he was telling me. End result is, I no longer have a shake and my bed rides like its part of the truck again
And to top things off on a positive, all this under warrenty and they seem more than happy to take care of my new to me 2011.
Now, to top things off, I had my bed Rhino Lined about 1 1/2 months ago and had been back twice because the lining was being pushed up from around the bed bolt washers. Poor guys probably hate me, but now that I have found the cause, Ill be back to have them fix it. Not sure wether or not I should admit to the cause of the issue or just let them fix it, say thank you and move on.
