But at night when u turn ur lights on driving down the road this means ur bed lights will be on to right?? I think that was the question he was asking is what keeps them from being on when u have ur lights on at night

Looks nice.....

...but... Do you have anything you plan on protecting that switch with?
Its location looks like something in the bed could roll/move around and trigger it/ turn it on. Granted they are LEDs and not draining much.... but still.

I think up higher and the switch would be less likely to be 'bumped' by stuff.
Just a thought for others that want to do this.

Looks good in the Tool Box as well.

themandan40/joshg-your right, I misunderstood... they are ON while driving at night. With a life of 15,000+ hours, I figured it didn't matter if they were on while driving (which is a wimpy answer!). More truthfully, I hadn't found a suitable switch like the one that jwil8957 has in his setup. My plan is to install one soon, but this will do for now.
Sorry to mislead the troops.

Dang that's cool. I wanted to do that and use those pressure switches so when I open the tailgate the lights come on, the type that they use in the engine compartment for the lights.

THATS what I'm looking for! Please post it here when you find one. Radio Shack here doesn't carry it.

Try a wrecking yard. Find a door switch. They should be cheap/inexpensive.

Just a thought I wounder if you could tap into the interior dome light. That way the bed lights would come on with all the entry lights via the key fob??

Since I have no business personally attempting any wiring on my truck, what would be a reasonable price to have a shop tap into the battery, run wiring to the bed, and connect the wiring to the LED lights and a switch? In other words, just the installation cost; I would provide the lights and switch.

Speaking of the switch, from the looks of the OP's photos, do you have to cut out a hole in the bed for the switch to sit in?
