Default Damaged Wiring

Don't know if this is a contributor to the problem of battery dying however I came across this on my truck. While changing the High Mount Brake Light on the truck, I couldn't pull out light assembly after removing the 2 screws. It would come out of the recess enough to see the back but not enough to remove the bulbs. Reaching up inside I could feel the wire for the cargo lights hung up on something. Pushing wire toward the front of the truck freed it and allowed the assembly to come all the way out. Here's pic's of what I found.
Green wire to left cargo light was hung up on flash of metal (white circle in pic ) around hole for assembly mounting screw and insulation was nicked.
Again not sure if this is what is causing problem as lights seemed to function as intended, going off with timer function after door closed but damaged wire seems like could be a common problem during assembly.

Same Drain problem here, 2010 F150 Super Crew, 4x4. Purchased in July 2015. The first time truck was not driven for more than 1 day was week before Thanksgiving, Would not start, jump started and dealer had for Wed thru Tuesday-said to be fixed. Next not driven for 2 days and would not start Monday Dec. 28 and towed to dealer. No call yet from dealer. I'm not happy

I just got the truck back today 12/31/2015 1pm
This time it was said to be a pinched wire under the seat to the rear power port.
The first time is was said to be the rear power port.
I don't know, hope this is the end of it. I will park it over the weekend and see.

Default Fixed Ford's Battery Drain issues!

Hy guys,
I finally fixed the battery drain/going dead overnight problem! After lengthy discussion with Ford's customer representatives and their supervisors I was told that when the truck reached 36,000 miles [it had 34,687 at that time] that they would no longer honor the warranty [ i use the word honor loosely here]. They were not going to approach a buy back issue or going to extend the warranty on the one issue. So I talked to the dealership and they said Ford had their hands tied there was nothing more they could do. After a 60 mile drive and some talking to Glen Baker at Greene Buick/GMC I now have a truck that starts and runs every morning and is a pleasure to drive. A 2015 GMC sierra SLE z-71. I have been a Ford man for over 30 years and I say this without hesitation: If you haven"t driven the new GMC's you really need to. This thing blows away any previous trucks Ive owned and about 90% of the cars Ive owned. Yes Im pissed at ford but after driving their new trucks and a dodge and this one there is no comparison. 5.3 v-8 that gets average of 18 all the time and gets 22 m.p.g. on the highway and rides and drives as quiet as a mouse! Lets see a Ford or Dodge say that and be honest.Well as Ford would tell y"all: Good luck suckers, you bought it and now its yours.

So what did you do with the F150? Trade it in? Sell it yourself? Still have it? Inquiring minds want to know. Lol

Default Drain issue fixed.

I traded it in. Back to a Green owned dealership. They sold it to me and were the first to tell me there was no more they could do for me. And as turn-about is fair-play viola! Now its their problem! Just as I was told. Isn't the age of these mega family owned dealerships great! The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing and gives us a chance to do them like they did us.

Default F 150 Battery Drain Revisited

Hello guys And Here's another one for ya!

You probably remember my posts about my 13 F150 with the battery drain issue, and that I fixed it by trading it in for a new 15 GMC. Well as time and Ford's @!#tty quality of their new vehicles goes my lovely wife's 13 Edge's transfer case is leaking gear oil. This is due to the fact FORD mis-machined them at the factory and the out-put trans shaft and the input transfer-case shaft don't line up thus creating a leak at the seal after lets say around 36,000 miles! Now when the Edge was 1 year old a Jasper rep walked into my shop when I was servicing it and asked me if the transfer-case was leaking yet? I said no . why? And they replied it will, its a known problem and Ford had already approached them to try and find a fix for their screw-up that didn't involve completely replacing them with new ones! The difference being this time around hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! My wife loves this vehicle and paid $45,000 for it. Keep buying them Fords cause it's only getting worse fellas. Woe is be that ford has slipped to this level. Mercede's Benz here we come Quality, comfort, great customer care and at the same prices, it's a no brainer!
