Battery dead after 5 days!!! is this a 2014 or a 1984???!!!
So i was traveling for a few days, left Sunday and got back friday. Took my other car to the airport so truck (2104 FX4, EB, 2100miles) sat in my garage.
Went out Friday afternoon to take the dog out to the dog park and...nothing! battery as flat as a pancake...... Anyway, my jump leads were not heavy enough to start this so got roadside assistance out and it started straight away. Double and triple checked and no lights or any power drains on......
So, called the first local dealer, Jones West in Reno, and the SA was worse than useless....."no, that never happens with them..., no there are no TSBS for battery issues, call Ford if you think it is a problem" Didn't even ask for the VIN!!! WTF!!! guess who will not be getting any business from me....
Called the second dealer and they at least did a search on the Vin and checked for any TSBs etc. Nothing there they say, but" bring it in and we will check out and replace the battery if required. Of course they can't touch it before Monday and I am traveling again Mon-thurs. Great, i normally land around midnight so now i will have to keep fingers crossed it will start next week. NOT what i expect from a new truck (or POS as it is at the moment! ) I thought my days of Fords that wouldn't start ended 30 years ago....
Anyway, now that i have vented. Anyone any thoughts on it? Not had any issue up till now although the longest it has sat without being started till now is probably 3 days. Just a thought. I always leave the keys in the cup holder when the truck is in the garage. Can this cause an issue? (It has Sync/Nav) I remember my wife had a BMW335 that had an issue like this when the keys were left inside but I never had an issue with my last 2 Audis and the keys were always left on the dash.
Thoughts appreciated. And yes I have gone all round again to make sure nothing is left on

My thought is you have a bad battery that needs to be replaced. It happens. Lead acid car battery technology has changed precious little in decades. My daughters new honda battery was dead after 18 months. My land rover battery was dead in 2 years.

Batteries go bad if the vehicle sits for extended periods of time and experiences dramatic temperature differences. Not uncommon at all for batteries to crap the bed after sitting on the lot for awhile especially when they're brand new.
