Default Bad fuel pump?

Hello,

I have a 2013 F150 with the 5.0 V8. 4x4. Standard cab with 8ft bed. My truck is on the verge of dying. Here is what’s going on and what I have done so far.

- The truck has random hard starting. It is increasing with time. Truck will crank much longer than it should before finally running.

- truck idles at extremely low RPM. I’m talking 300-400 RPM.

- truck definitely has lost power. The 5.0 V8 is not running as strong as it should.

here is what I’ve done so far:
1) scanned for codes. Got P0230. Problem with primary fuel circuit.
2) checked F27 fuse in power distribution box. Fuse is fine. No melting and no burning.
3) checked/replaced the fuel relay #8 in power distribution box.
4) changed out the fuel pump driver module near the spare tire.

Ive done all the cheap/easy fixes and now have reason to believe it’s the fuel pump. Anyone agree? Disagree?

because of the P0230 code I do not believe it is anything like the MAF or throttle body.

i also have relatively new spark plugs in that are gapped correctly (they were installed only 20,000 miles ago).

Ive also run Lucas fuel treatment through the system to see if it was dirty/clogged injectors etc. no change.

truck is heading to the dealership this Friday. Just trying to see if I’m correct with believing it’s the pump.

thanks.

I don’t have a tool for that. Hoping the dealer will try that this Friday. It’s my understanding their is a pressure gauge that T’s into the fuel system.

Check the connectors to the PCM. The manual literally says:
  •
    • Shake, wiggle, and bend the FP circuit between the PCM and the FP relay

gotta love ford and their high-tech “shake, wiggle and bend” solution lol. I’ll give this a try but I’m not hopeful it will work.
