Default Backup sensors and trailer annoyance

Let me start out by saying that the backup sensors are nice. Especially for the wife. But I pull a utility trailer about once or twice a week, and I must say that the sensors are getting on my nerves. When I hook up my camper the sensors automatically turn off. So I was wondering if plugging my four pin harness into a seven pin adapter would disable the sensors, or are trailer brakes needed for that to happen?

thanks,
mastertinner

You can turn off your sensors from your menu in your dash.

Every time I put my truck in reverse, I am presented the option to turn it off momentarily using the left down button on he steering wheel. Easy enough to do?

I agree they drive me up a wall. Even when you put it in reverse you gotta turn it off every time you turn the key. With the adapter 7 pin to a 4 pin that should work I would assume

I may be mis-remembering, but can you not go into the cluster menu using your info/setup button (or arrow/ok button on 11+) to disable the rear park aid, thus when you go into reverse you wont have to disable it every time.
Other option is to unplug one of the outer sensors, if one goes offline the whole system will be disabled (I had water get into one of my connectors, had to fill it with di-electric grease)

Thanks for the replies guys. I do know about the menu option to turn it off. Sounds easy enough but when your backing a trailer in an active area like a construction site or a boat landing pushing that button is just one more unnecessary thing to do, and takes your mind and eyes off of backing up.

All you have to do is hit reset it does not turn it off. It just stops it for that time you are backing up so you are not having to turn it on and off all the time!

Ooops, nevermind. I just suggested what you were asking in your original post. That's what I get for not fully reading a post before I respond.

Since no one ever answered your question. I believe it would turn them off. It's worth a shot.
