I finally had a chance to install the Amazon flood LED lights.
I used a relay and a wireless remote under the hood and ran wire from the back. Too bad I can't get it to work. I verified that the lights are working by providing power directly to the lights.
My set-up is Battery -> Wireless Remote -> Relay -> lights.
I tapped the light blue/white stripe on the harness that looks to be the same as what the OP tapped into. The color isn't exactly the same, but it is the 1st wire on that harness.
Red wire from the light goes to the 87 on the relay, the Blue wire (the back-up light?) goes to 85 on the relay, the power OUT from the remote goes to 30 on the relay.
The Power IN goes to the POS terminal on the battery, and GROUND to a chassis Ground.

85 is ground and you'd rap the remote power out to 86. 30 is your (constant) battery power.
BINGO! I re-read the OP's first post and realized I forgot to ground the relay.
Now it works! The wireless remote turns the lights ON/OFF from at least 20 feet away and since I'll just be using it from inside the truck, it's perfect. I'll be going back to work tomorrow to BFE, so I'll have to take some pics later this week.
Thanks all.
This took me a couple of months of gathering parts and lots of thinking about it.
As for controlling the relay, Pin #85 gets attached with a splice tap connector to the Light Blue/White wire you see in the above photo. Pin #86 which is ground, I attached with a splice tap connector to the last Black wire on that connector above as well. (nothing gets attached to pin #87a)
Hi everyone, I thought I'd do a follow-up to this backup light upgrade that I did a few years ago. It's a few months shy of 3 years since I did the install. I can say that I have not had any issues with these lights at all. They're still working as well as they originally did. I virtually always back into parking spots as I find it much easier than pulling straight in. I still get some surprised looks on peoples faces if they're in the general area behind the vehicle when I start to back up. I have subsequently installed a backup camera (3rd party) as well as a replacement rear view mirror with LCD monitor installed. I can see very clearly behind the vehicle at night including in the monitor. Anyway, just thought I'd let people know how it has been going with them.
This is an updated photo as they look today. (same date as this post)
