I am working on a 2014 STX F150 that is having issues with the backup camera. It has the small radio screen which I thought is where the backup camera was supposed to be in this year of F150. It has what appears to be an aftermarket Magna mirror with the backup camera in the mirror. The image is upside down and has lines going through it like it has a bad connection. I played with the connector on the back of the mirror and the lines didn't change and I also took the camera out of the emblem and tried moving it around to see if it was a bad connection there but still no change.

So now I have a couple questions. Why would someone take the camera image off of the factory screen and put it in an aftermarket mirror? Also what else can I check to fix the image? I have been looking for a manual for the mirror with no luck.

 

2014 a back up camera was still optional, they did not come standard until 2015 i believe. so looks like you have a truck that did not come with a factory camera and someone added that aftermarket one

 

I had an issue with an aftermarket camera I installed where it had lines on the display if it was grounded, but if you ungrounded it, it worked fine. Could be opposite, maybe a ground came loose etc. I'd trace the wires.
