Same here.

Was thinking about getting the Magellan 1700 with the wireless camera.
However there are many sub-par reviews.

Not sure about the installation with the F150.

This is how I added a Peak Wireless to My XLT. It has a 3.5" Monitor. I have had it for 2 years with no problems. Ebay has them for $85.00.

There is a theard here with tons of information on how to add the OEM backup camera to 2009+ trucks. It was one of the first mods I did to my truck. You will need a new rear view mirror with LCD in it, the rear camera and the taillight harness for it, and a mirror harness that goes in the headliner. You may need more harnesses, read up and you will get a better idea. I think it cost me ~$500 in parts.

Ended up going with the Magellan 1700-LM GPS and the Magellan Wireless camera.

Easy to install.
Took off left tail light.
Hooked up transmitter wires to backup light wires close to the the end at the light.
Used heavy duty Velcro to secure transmitter in the tail light housing for security. Camera can be stolen but I think the TRX is safe.
Used ties to secure loose wire.
Put back together.

Had problem with the poor quality wire splicers. Took many tries to get it working.

No problems so far with image quality.

Here is where I got my parts. Maybe you can do better on prices.
$109.99 Crutchfield ($20 off coupon)
$154.98 Amazon (1700LM)

If you don't want the lifetime maps you can get some really good deals on the unit. (Walmart $84.98+ tax free ship refurb)

I did this also for about $375. OEM is so nice and clean.

I got this one about 2 months ago because my wife thought it was a good idea and she likes to see money being spent even if it's just on things like this and not on her - still haven't got around to installing it yet...lol
