This is appropriate for all on-road driving conditions, including as dry road surfaces, but is especially useful on wet pavement, snow, dirt, or gravel.
• 4H (4X4 HIGH) - provides electronically locked four-wheel drive power to front and rear wheels. This position is not recommended for use on dry pavement. This position is only intended for severe winter or off-road conditions, such as deep snow, ice or shallow sand. Note: Do not use 4H (4X4 HIGH) on dry, hard surfaced roads. Doing so can produce excessive noise and increased tire wear. 4H (4X4 HIGH) is only intended for consistently slippery or loose surfaces. Use of 4H (4X4 HIGH) on these surfaces may produce some noise (such as occasional clunks), but will not damage drive components.

Anyone one else have any thoughts?

Thanks again for all the feedback!
True that, but what I have seen while I was working at a transmission shop, inside transfer cases of auto 4x4's were accelerated clutch wear and a result accelerated clutch slippage compared to the same vehicle with non auto 4x4 transfer cases.
You may not notice any slippage for who knows how long( 3-5 years maybe) then expensive to repair once off warranty.

I have a 2011 Limited 6.2 w/ the AWD Option also. It is an actual AWD system and can be used all the time. It is not a 4wd lo/hi or auto. It can be used on roads and anywhere else.
Use it, enjoy it.
As a previous poster accurately posted...
Use = wear and tear just like anything else.
You will need to adjust your maintenance schedule - differential and transmission - frequency, especially if you like to go zoooooom!

Rock On.
