Tow harness:
Note that reverse relay used to isolate truck from trailer. The circuit is directly from the battery thru a fuse.

Well, I went out and tried to move the wiring separate from the reverse sensors first to see if that would work. Still getting phantom indications. So I guess I am going to have to go nuclear and rewire it all from the front. I had already planned to install some new wiring with an aux fuse box in the bed for my camper shell. This will simply accelerate that project. So can anyone give me more info about this relay I will need for this project?

Before you go to that trouble, follow the 7 pin trailer connector harness from the connector on the hitch forward. You should see a connector somewhere near the spare. May need to lower the spare to get more room. That is where I spliced into it for reverse. On my 2011 the reverse wire is GY=BN. The ground is on the inside of the frame rail on the left rear. That circuit already has a relay and fuse so you do not need to *** another relay. To test this out, you could just push the bare wire into the correct pin on the connector.

That's where I am pulling the reverse from right now. Although I spliced right at the actual 7-pin connector on the bumper.

Should be OK then. Only thing I did different was I spliced into the wire near the connector near the spare tire. You might try removing the lights and temporarily putting them in the bed away from the sensors but still connected and see if they are emitting some kind of interference.

I'm going to unplug the lights for now and see if I still get the interference.

Could the light output be causing your problems? Before rewiring try covering the lights up with cardboard or something and see if you still get the ghost signals.

I thought about that too and I really hope that's not the issue. I don't know how I'd fix that.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's not the issue, but I've seen weirder things. Just easier to check before tearing into your wiring, I have mine wired similar but my lights are under the bumper, no issues at all

I was thinking the same thing!

Try covering up the lights and see if the sensors work fine.
