He has more than enough towing power, even in the steepest of hills. Not sure why you think this is a problem. The EB with 3.73 is a towing monster. He is (nearly) payload deficient, but he has plenty of power.

Great statement right there. Now if you want to pull a 30'+ trailer that's a different story.

I'm also in the camp that says that GD 2600RB is way too much TT for the OP's F150. My F150 has significantly higher tow (11,300#) and payload (1742#) ratings, however I wouldn't pull that with less than 3/4 ton class truck. I own a Lance 1685 (shortest dual axle model at 21' OAL) which makes an easy towing combo however I do use a WDH. That specific GD at 29'8" OAL is longer and heavier than any model in Lance's current TT lineup. Adding to that (literally and figuratively) is cumulative fluid weight in 52/76/39 gallon tank capacities even if only partially filled. It adds up...

As one who happens to live in and travel through the mountains in Arizona, I agree which highly influences my conservative thinking on rational towing limits...

I towed my 23' 1978 Casa Vega weighing in at just over 6k, up through the rocky mountains without the 5.0 sweating on the steep ups, or me sweating on the steam downs. It performed admirably, although I suspect my previous 3.5 Eco would have done the same job without dropping into 4th to keep at the speed limit.

That said, not denying that people overload their 1/2 tons and that a 3/4 or one ton truck wouldn't do a better job if your budget allows more than one truck in your driveway.
