Even if you disregard the decrease in mileage, extra wear on the drivetrain and how ****ty the steering is 4x4, I don't see why anyone would want to.

I understand the difference. I didn't realize that was an option. I suppose if I had it, and assuming performance is better, I'd roll full time. I'm not getting good mileage anyways.

No need to get salty. I wasn't aware of any difference between the two on F150's, but I don't have a fancy Limited either. I can only assume the AWD on your truck is designed similar to the Auto4Hi that GM's have had for quite a few years. I wouldn't see any issue in having it in AWD all the time considering it's basically 2WD until it senses the rear wheels slip. And yes, I realize that you didn't ask if it would cause problems, but it seems to be the only logical reason anyone would want an answer to such a question.

There is a difference between AWD and Auto-4WD. The F-150 has the latter (Lariat and up).

Yyeeaaa... Ure probably in auto... Which is 2wd like normal... Then when truck senses rear wheel slippage.... It automatically engages 4wd.... Had that in my trailblazer and it was more of a pain than just leaving in 2wd or just using my senses and putting it directly in 4hi. I didnt like how it felt when it engaged.. Seemed like that's an easy way to damage something. IF i had that on my truck... I wouldn't use it.
