I was going down a pretty rutted up dirt road last week and I ended up dragging the bottom of my truck across the mud piled up in the middle. Got back to pavement and heard something scraping...this was it. I'm assuming its just to keep everything clean above it but not for sure really

It's that tranny cover that you're supposed to remove before off roading according to the owners manual. Just a guess.

I can assure that it is in fact not a skid plate.

It's for noise control. I took mine off when the truck first came home. Still like new in the attic.

Yea I will leave it off. I'm sure the dealer will say "oh you better put that back on or you'll blow up the turbos" blah blah blah! IMO if it came off that easy it has no business being on the bottom of a truck anyway.
