Anyone having intermittent stalling problems??
I work at a local repair shop and come across some strange stuff from time to time and I like to post what I did to repair it. This one is a 2012 F150 5.0,customer complaint was that the truck would randomly die like it was out of gas. He couldnt hear the fuel pump running under the truck when it would happen. he had it back to the dealer several times and the pump and driver module were replaced under warranty without any improvement. the condition was still there. Things like this are almost impossible to test so I like to check all possible connections first. I found the problem pretty quick on this one. the fuel pump fuse was shorting out.As you can see when I pulled the fuse out it was burnt on one side. I pulled the underhood fuse box apart and added a fuse holder. One side of the fuse is a positive buss bar that powers a bank of fuses and the other side is a wire that runs to the fuel pump relay. just snip the heavy blue/red wire and add your own fuse holder. I ran mine out the side of the box and connected it to the positive cable that feeds the box.You could replace the entire fuse box But at huge cost. This is what worked for his situation.I always write down a remark in the customers owners manual when I add a seprate fuse or change wiring so the next guy does not have to figure out what I changed. Problem solved, customer happy

Further proof that dealerships employ few real mechanics. You mapped a logical course to locate the problem and fix it. The dealership hooked it to the wonder box and didn't solve anything. Well done!

No wonder it burned, it’s so small!!
Quite a feat opening the box.
