The quality looks like its there. It also appears the step is in the right place.
Any plans for the rear door steps?
The base unit looks like it gives you some good coverage to keep mud and crap from flying up on the sides.

they are connected to the truck the same way the stock running boards are connected, so they can support weight. Although they don't stick out from the truck too much so you can't really get your foot on them enough to step on them getting in and out of the truck

correct, in one photo of the steps that attach to the rails you can see looking straight down with the door open that the rail is not something you can step on

they don't attach to the 'seam' - there's a plate on the rail attachment that takes 2 bolts behind the rocker panel. it's stout enough to use as a running board but it won't take damage like a true rock rail would
