Default Anyone else regret,

going from an F Super Duty to an F150?

I have a 2014 STX Scab, the truck rides well, gets good fuel mileage, is comfortable and quiet, BUT, I can't help but feel it is a "tinny" truck.

Drove an F250 the other day and it just seemed a much better built, studier truck than the F150 (yes I do realize that is the definition of a "light duty" pickup).

But for the difference in price, which is really VERY small (at least when comparing gas to gas) the truck just seems much less flimsy.

Door panels, bed panels, bed floor, door construction etc. just really stand out when side by side to the F150.

Any one else wish maybe they would have stayed with the 250 up line?

I have one of each, and have had a F250 since '06 from work. I bought a F150 for myself and I love it. Now, that being said...
That's not as simple as black vs white. The back seat of my F150 that my kids ride in is much bigger then the F250. My F150 is a '13 4x4 5.0 Screw 5.5' bed XLT. The F250 is an '11 2wd crew cab 6.2L 8' bed
XL. I've pulled an 8k lbs load with both pickups to compare. Hands down my 5.0 out performed... Maybe it's the suspension, maybe it's the anti trailer sway. But this 6.2L in the F250 is a turd... The shift points (no tune) are way off, and it's even worse using the trailer haul mode. This F250 is rough!!!!!!!! I drive from DFW to North Oklahoma and back several times a week. I'm honestly sick to my stomach by the time I get home. It's rough with or without a trailer. It does seem like the doors are heavier and the truck is stout. I've had the 6.7 power stroke and love it! F250 with the 6.7 and 6' or so bed and 4wd, would probably get my favor against an F150. But that isn't near the same price as your STX. It depends on what you need the truck for. The F250 I have isn't made for comfort, and lucky for Ford... Cause IMO it fails that one. This 6.2L is made for work, and in my opinion it also fails. I use it every day and now have 153K miles. It has held up. But there's no way I would ever purchase it. That's just an honest answer from someone that is literally sore from driving this F250. I'm only 29, and it honestly beats the hell out of me and has since it was new. I've put different tires on it and shocks. It's just rough. Sorry for the novel.

Naw OFC your fine on the novel, that's what I wanted, a little background. I ordered a brand new (first year new style) 99 F350 CC dually 7.3 PSD 4x4 Lariat with locker rear and heavy front suspension, camper option, truck had just about every option for the time.

Drove it until last year, and put OVER 450,000 miles on it, always did everything asked of it, I bought my wife a new 2006 Lincoln Mark LT and she drove it till last year and wanted a new car, so I took her LT as MY truck (I now have a CC single axle Peterbilt to haul my toys and crap around) I drove it for a year and then decided I wanted something new and swapped the LT for the STX.

It just seems that the 06 LT was also not as tinny as the 2014, NOW, some of this may be that the LT was a CC 5.5 bed and the STX is an Scab 6.5.

Obviously the bedsides of the 5.5 would seem stiffer than the 6.5 just because of being a shorter span, also, maybe I am getting that feeling from the ext. cab, never had one before and it just feels no where near as solid as the cc trucks I've had.

As I said, the STX does a GOOD job as far as practical things, it's just a feeling I have and hope to get used to it, but it just does feel so different?

Most times I don't miss my SD. The F150 suites my needs better 95% of the time. It's just that my F350 could do pretty much anything. Towing up north in the winter, there are times I wish I had my SD, mostly because of it's weight. It just tows better. The F150 is far more comfortable though.

I love my F150, but I regret not buying an F250 instead.

For about the same money, I could have made it happen, but I did not realize this until after the keys were in my hand. My focus was on finding a truck for the wife. I assumed the F250 was going to me more money and knew it was unnecessary for our (her) needs. The F150 itself has been plenty of truck for what we actually need, it just bothers me that "I could have had" the F250. You know how that goes though... Had I have got the 250, Id have probably wanted the 350... etc, etc, I should have just bought a Peterbilt. LMAO... or a deuce and a half, I really want one of those. Its on the auto bucket list for sure. Oneday...

EDIT:
After reading the last 3 posts, perhaps the F150 was the better choice after all.

Nope!

I traded an 06 6.0 Powerstroke in on my 2011 xlt scab 5.0. Somedays I miss the sound and size of the diesel, but I am saving so much more money each month through fuel, maintenance, etc.

I had a good 6.0 that was never back to the dealer for repairs in the nearly 6 years I owned it (rare I know), so I wont bash the Powerstroke at all.

The issue I had with driving a diesel was the $100 oil changes, $70 fuel filter changes, and fuel costing .50-.70 cents more per gallon than gasoline at the time.

My F150 rides sooo much better and is more refined than the big dinosaur Stroker. But that sound while idling is something that is awesome at any age of life!

Pretty much what I have found, I wanted to order a 2014 with the 6.2, then I found I could not get the 6.2 CC with the Sunset color that I wanted so I had to compromise.

By the time the dealer got it all figured out it was too late to order a 2014 so they found me the STX in Sunset but with the Scab.

Like you I sat down and configured an F250 and it comes out for almost the same money as the F150 just seems odd?

My 2002 250 got 8 mpg on a good day.. now I average 20 mpg with my 5.0. I can live with lighter duty for that alone

I had a 2001 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins, and a 2003 F250 6.0 Powerstroke crew 4x4 prior to my F150. I loved the big diesels, especially the Cummins mated to a 5 speed, but my 5.0 STX feels like a sports car in comparison.

I didn't need those trucks for much more than transportation. I didn't tow or haul enough to justify the additional expense. I'm happy with the F150.
