Default Anyone do any Brake upgrades???

My front discs shudder when i brake, usually from a highway speed. Its really bad sometimes...however my dealer says brakes, after 1 year(i have a 2010 STX) are considered a "wear" item. and is not covered under warranty. I'll probably just get them turned. But i was wondering if anyone has gotten "better" brakes??? Like vented rotors or something? is it worth it?

Unfortunately, brakes are indeed a wear item and are an out of pocket expense

you already have "vented" rotors. you are looking for crossdrilled and/or slotted rotors. If you tough on your brakes and should consider an upgrade. EBC and Bembro make good stuff. I had EBC cross drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads on my 2007 F150 FX4. they worked like a champ!

I had this issue with my truck. It was the Manager's demo with about 4k miles on it. Same shudder when I took it. They turned the fronts and checked all four. I thought they should be replaced, but it was a no-go.
They were "ok" for a while, but I find them so grabby. The worst brakes I have ever felt on any truck I've owned. I've discussed this with the dealer, and they've checked them and say they are within specs.
Sad. I love the truck, but hate the brakes. Come spring, I think I'll start with a possible slight turn and new Pads. If they can't turn, then new disks, starting in the front. Probably Hawk LTS or Performance Ceramic Pads, but I will look around. Hawk also makes Slotted Rotors, and I may use them as well.
Anyone else have ideas?

Need new rotors on my 2006 as well. Just got a price on upgrade slotted & dimpled rotors and better pads. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet. But as far as the Ford dealership goes... I just heard today from a reliable source that if you describe your brake symptom as "pulsating", Ford will warrantee the brake repair. Apparently, any other description can be considered normal wear. It's worth a try.
