I have these in the past I would inevitably have to remove when the tape fails just to find that they wore the paint down to metal in certain spots. Now that was a rubber edging with tape, I haven't researched much with current products. If you are going for just pure paint chip protection, I am betting a 1/2 inch 3m film folded at the edge would work, no?

I installed some 3M clear vinyl. I bought a sheet and sliced it in strips. Virtually invisible.

Then I got some 2" color matched this: http://www.bumperdefender.com/bumper_guard.html

Default SportWing

Here's a picture of mine with the SportWing body moulding. It's been installed since the truck was almost new in 2010 and I have no complaints.
I actually had one door ding prior to this that was right at the bottom of where the moulding installed.

I thought they were factory until I asked a dealer to stick the right side door guard back down. About 3 inches had come loose. He said they were not OEM and therefore not covered. It wasn't the dealer I bought it from. I like them anyway.

I was beginning to think the humor had been lost on me. That's just funny, I don't care who you are.
