Another lift/gear question
For those who have lifted their trucks either via level or lift kit and are running 35" tires, I'm curious what gear set people are running, and if anyone has upgraded after market?
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a '12 Lariat, SCREW, 6.5ft bed, 4x4, EB engine....end game/desire is a 6" lift + 35" tires. Trying to figure out if it's worth paying the $695 for the 3:31 to 3.73 ELA upgrade, or if I should just order with the standard gears (3:31) and upgrade to 4:10s once the lift is complete.
I guess it comes down to whether or not the 3.73/EB combo will get the job done just fine where I can keep the factory gears and not mess with that, or if there is some really big benefit to running 4:10 gears where I won't waste my money upgrading the gear set through Ford when they will be swapped anyway.
Thoughts?

if you want to lift any new f150 and put 35's on you will need at least 3:73 gears. My 2010 lifted with 35's and 3:55 was a complete turd. I had the 5.4 in mine. I am not racing my truck either. just normal driving and towing a small enclosed trailer. COMPLETE TURD, it could not hold a gear going up a small incline.
Now the 5.0 is putting out what 30 or so hp more and more torque than the 5.4 and the 3.73 gear set will help as well. That being said if you are lifting a truck you are not worried about gas mileage, so go with a 3:73 at minimum, if you can get the 4:10
