Default Another A/C Thread, Not Cooling

Hello,

I have talked to the service manager about the A/C in my 2013 bought new in 2/14 not ever leaving one drop of water on the ground when the A/C is running. He has told me after inspecting it that nothing is wrong. I have told him more than once and I have it on a work order that it was checked. I have crawled under the truck and have not seen it drain. Last year at this time of year I took the truck in for an A/C service because the air would not get cold. Afterwords they recharged it and put dye in it and it worked ok until this hot weather here in PA this year. Today I returned to have them look at it again and now he tell me that the dye shows that the system is not draining the condensation properly and it shows signs of a leak where the drain tube inserts. He wants to know if I want to spend $1700.00 to have it fixed. I questioned him about how I had them check the condensation drains because it would not show any signs of draining and he just shrugged his shoulders and said let me know if you want to have it fixed. He said the dash has to be removed and most of the money is labor. Has anyone else experienced this? I only have 50,000 miles on it.

Thank you in Advance

The lack of draining is weird in these trucks, but I think unrelated to lack of cooling.

Problems with service departments is another topic, as well. Where did they put dye in that would show how condensation drains? I thought dye was inserted in the refrigerant to see if you have refrigerant leaks.

The water draining is from de-humidification. If the truck is on recirculate the cabin air is already de-humidified so there will be no water draining from it. If it's on fresh air it will de-humidify the outside air which will cause condensation and the water will drain from the evaporator. Run it on fresh air and full cold on warm humid morning and you should see water pouring out of it.
