has anyone worked out the financials on this? My truck is past the warranty, I didn't buy extended and never needed it, my dad just bought a 17 and is on the fence over 1900 for one.

Just seeing if somebody has had more work done than paid for the warranty, as I feel they wouldn't sell it if they didn't make a profit.

It is a huge profit maker for Ford and the dealer. If you ask 1,000 people the question you asked, yes, you will find one that it paid off for. Maybe 2.

I took the third option - my local dealership.

I waltzed in and told them about the Flood ESP. They told me they "couldn't give me THAT big of a discount" but without much pressure at all they got me within about $50, and threw in a few oil changes and a car wash, plus they get the money, so hey.

I'm the 3rd, then, evidently. Had to have the back window replaced 2x, as well as the valve body separator plate. Given that blasted back window runs $700 or so, that alone paid for it.

I didn't do my research beforehand and winded up getting a platinum carefree car plan backed by fidelity warranty services. 6/120,000 for $1600. After reading all the reviews I can't find any info on them so I'm a little nervous. I can still cancel it for a 100% refund right now. Any thoughts ?

Avoid third party warranties. Only get Ford ESP.

That's true. It really aggravates me because I would've thought that as extended warranty coming from a Ford dealership would've been an actual Ford warranty and some third party.

it's all about lining their pockets. that warranty probably cost no more than $700-900 to them.

Don't feel bad, I was suckered like that some years back by the dealer. I didn't know it was a third party until it was to late. However, I did voice my displeasure quite forcefully.

If I were you I would get the full refund on that crap third party warranty. And, if you still want a warranty call Flood or Anderson-Koch and buy from the one that's the cheapest. They both sell the genuine Ford warranty. I bought mine from Menholt, and it was a smooth transaction.
