I dont think that its ford metal quality, I think that its all vehicles made today. They all have very thin sheet metal that dents easy. You should see what the hail did to my truck and what it didnt do to my buddies 1980 ford bronco. Mine had 7900$$ in damage and his bronco hardly has dents at all.

The easiest way for a manufacture to shed weight on a vehicle is through the skin. Blame C.A.F.E. for continuous pressure for increased fuel economy. Be glad you don't have a Chevy. The bed rails on those things dent if you look at them funny.

On a positive note, the sheet metal will continue to get thinner and thinner as they develop new alloys and new corrosion control coatings and techniques.. yippy!
