And this one takes air from outside the engine compartment (completely separated from the engine). Plus it's only $9...

Only problem is that it doesn't look as impressive.

Yes - it does look nice. But I'm perfectly happy with the way my 09 intake looks.

The only performance mod I intend on making is the Edge/Gryphon CTS with custom tunes from PHP.

Holy Hijack Batman! The poor OP only wanted to know about replacing the filter, he said "I know cai's are a waste of money". I say go ahead and log your mpg every fillup, then switch to K&N or another filter and compare the difference.

The problem was he stated that CAI's are a waste of money...I disagreed...but opinions are like *** holes...everybody has one and they all "STINK"

Yes, but debating the benefits of a CAI with someone who has already decided not to get one doesn't make much sense.

People are gonna buy what they wanna buy, no matter what people tell them. Its a sad reality that we have to live with. Its easy for some to believe an ad they see in Muscle Truck magazine, not realizing those claimed dyno numbers don't translate into the real world. There is only one company that I am aware of that does real world testing on all their products and that is Banks. Banks doesn't even make a CAI for the 09/10 trucks, because it doesn't need to be improved. Why spend $200+ for 2hp in a 5500lb truck? People want to defend their purchases because they hate to admit they got conned or suckered into something, especially when a 99 cent "NOS" sticker from AutoZone adds just as much horsepower as a $300 aftermarket "CAI" intake.

do you think a company like K&N is blowing smoke about the 11hp gain with the cai? I would think someone would have called their bluff years ago. How long does it take for a new, save $$ on fuel costs, addon or mod to get tested and proven wrong? I have a cai k&n and love it. Mileage change? not that I've noticed. Power change? Definately.
Why doesn't Ford put something like this on? They went to great lengths to quiet the cabin and these things are LOUD. If you want more hp get it. If you want better mpg, buy a Prius and bring your anchor.

Huh? I can't hear you? Is your engine running?

Quite frankly - yes I do and there are posts on other boards that confirm it (with independent, real world, identical truck and operaing conditions) dyno runs. 6 hp? Maybe..

One last thing to consider - where on the power curve does the intake really help? Where you use it the most? Or at high RPMs and WOT?

Having said that, I'm glad you like your intake.
