aFe intake
If anyone out there currently has the aFe stage 1 cold air intake (just filter and short tube with MAF housing using stock intake tube) and have been trying to find a way to buy just an intake tube then you have noticed pretty much no one sells just the intake tube...aFe or other brands. I searched for a while and was only able to find some of the dyi kits that are out there, I thought about going with one of these but I wanted something that had the correct hookups for the two vacuum lines on the intake and was worried that putting them in myself would eventually lead to a vacuum leak, plus a dyi kit would require multiple couplers for the angles involved and IMO just loom bad under the hood.
So after searching the net with no luck I tried calling roush directly since they seem to have fairly close ties with ford trucks and although the customer service/sales person I spoke with was nice enough he told me that since I don't already have a roush CAI they could not sell me just an intake tube since it would require them breaking up a set (although he did say if I already had one of their CIA and it was a replacement issue they would be able to send me just the tube...). After trying roush I found the direct number for aFe and gave them a try. After explaining to the sales person that I had the stage 1 for the 5.0 and wanted to make it into a srage 2 (intake, 2 couplers, two rubber hoses and some screwes and clamps) he said he would look into the possibilities, he asked for my number and said he would call back shortly. After about 10 min he called back and informed me that they would be happy to put a kit together for me to upgrade my stage 1 to a stage 2, he even gave me the option of the polished or powder coated tube, went over what was needed to go to the stage 2 and quoted me a price of just $93 including shipping! That is less expensive then any dyi kit out there that I could find!
Just wanted to let anyone interested that if you are looking to replace just the stock intake tube on your f150 it is possible and aFe is the place to look! Great customer service, it seems had to find personalized service anymore but aFe made my day today!
