Default Advice on truck boxes

I'm looking for a truck box to mount inside my bed. Don't want one that hangs over the sides....something that will be covered with a tonneau. Anyone have something like this or can recommend one?

I went to Lowes website to get dims and it doesn't look like they carry them anymore, at least according to their on line site. Maybe they do at the store?

Delta and others carry similar though;

I have a smaller box that I chain into the bed. but it is small enough I can take it out and put it in the back of the cab if I need to haul something that eats the whole bed of the truck. I.E. lumber or motorcycles. I don't know the exact dimensions but I think around 1.75' tall x 3' wide x 1' deep.

It holds just enough to get by, and don't know the price as I traded my father my full size tool box from my s-10, for this one he carried in the back of his Tacoma.

I do the same thing for the same reasons.

I have a big plastic bin that I leave in the bed with tools and misc things.

If I need room in the bed, I move it into the back seat.

Works like a charm.

I can see an issue with trying to get into a fixed storage box under a cover. The bin in the back works well cause I can move it around or out of the bed.

Over the years I have found these to be the best boxes available for med use. They last forever:

I purchased a 46" chest type tool box from TSC (Tractor Supply Co).

http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pro...silver-46-in-l

I welded up a 3" "pedestal system" that it bolts on using the Bed bolts.
I can also take out 4 bolts to remove the tool box, and disassemble the frame work in less than 2 minutes if I need 100% bed access.
(Having the 5.5' bed, I wanted that feature & actually had to use it a couple times. Works great!!) I then I had all my brackets and supports lineX coated.
I also have an Extang Encore 3pc cover, and I can flip up the front section & have 100% access to the tool box.
The 3" pedestal system is nice so I can slide plywood or drywall UNDER the tool box and they will go all the way to the front of the bed.
