The reason they say no cruise control is they want your engine to experience the whole range of RPM's. Drive it easy, but don't just idle along in cruise. Accelerate with some gusto sometimes, and let your RPM gauge flex a bit (no need to redline to 6000).

Also, no towing until 1000 km as it puts stress on the engine.

The no towing is to allow the differential to break in and not the engine. The gears have to mesh with minimal load for some time to create a wear pattern or they can wear improperly or howl.

There is no engine break in period. You can build a motor, seat the rings and take it to the drag strip, nascar or Grand Prix the same day. Engine builders run the motors to seat the rings and then run them up to the max RPM repeatedly to get dyno numbers and tune motors.

Sorry, had to.

Welcome, sounds like you're off to the right start.

Check out Bak industries products for a tonneau.
Rugged liners on ebay for the rear wheel liners.
Line X is the way to go and some weathertech mats

Hi, Kevin.

I'd like to take a look at this for you. Please PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info, and I'll see how I can best assist.

I towed a 5,000# boat about 20 miles with 500 miles on my truck never exceeding 55mph, before I read everyone saying don't tow in the first 1,000. Should I be worried or will it be OK since it was such small distance and low speed?

In the same shoes, as I have some of these decisions to make as well. I'm planning on getting Line X first and having them spray the wheel wells at the same time. I've seen trucks where people did front of hood and rocker panels as well, might be a good idea depending on usage.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm bringing the truck in to get serviced tomorrow so I'll let you know what they say.

I wouldn't worry, that's not a whole lot of towing. I doubt you did any harm.

I got my tonneau first with the thought that if I go with a spray-in they're going to scratch it to hell anyway. Kind if depends on what's important to you though.

In my case, i recently had to haul a college student's stuff through 2 hours of rain. The tonneau mattered, Line-x wouldn't have. We also had to shop for dorm stuff. The tonneau kept everything locked up between stops.

I'll eventually get a liner but the tonneau instantly adds functionality.

I've had the brake issue and it is fairly common. It has something to do with the yoke slip not being properly lubricated from what I understand. I took mine in for this and they reflashed the tranny. That fixed it but only for a week or so. Once the engine re-learned my driving style the issue came back. I couldn't get them to listen to me about the yoke and it doesn't really bother me enough to take back & argue over.
